Suzanne’s Top 3 | Top 3 Tuesday

suzanne's top 3

On Tuesdays, listeners just like you become contributors to the Life 90.5 blog with your top 3 favorite songs! This week, it’s Suzanne’s top 3. As a listener for about 2 years, she loves Life 90.5 because “the music is so fulfilling, it’s safe and encouraging for my children to learn, and there’s always just the right thing I need to hear at the right time.”

Check out Suzanne’s top 3 favorites and don’t miss her story of how God has used music to speak to her heart…

1. “Living Hope” by Phil Wickham

Not only has this song been added to the worship sets of countless churches across the country, but it’s bringing listeners just like Suzanne into worship every time it’s heard…

“Just an awesome song of praise. I just really feel the intimacy of worship when I sing this song.”

2. “Overwhelmed” by Big Daddy Weave

Even though this song has been out since 2014, it’s still a regular request of many Life 90.5 listeners. Suzanne is one such listener that still loves the song 5 years after its release because of what it reminds her about our great God…

“This has been my favorite song for quite some time. It just puts the greatness and the vastness of God into view. While its great to have other songs speak to certain situations in our lives, this is like a coverall of Gods greatness – just makes my knees weak with awe.”

3. “Burn the Ships” by For King & Country

This song has touched many lives, but Suzanne has an incredible story to share…

Something caught may attention about this song before I knew the story behind it. I felt a stirring that I was about to move into a new season in life and thats why I initially liked it. Then I found out that the song is about being freed from substance abuse. At that time, I was (and have been for the past 2 decades) under the thumb of addiction. Recently I won tickets to see Big Daddy Weave from Life 90.5. A blessing in so many ways because I wanted very badly to win these tickets, but little did I know all God had in store with this gift. While at the show, the band began to pray over people with different afflictions. The last thing they prayed for was "anyone battling addiction" which hit me sideways... because after 4 years of avidly trying to break the stronghold of addiction, that week I had encountered a new low in my frustration with the cycle. So without hesitation I raised my hand, and I just felt the Holy Spirit wash through me and I began to uncontrollably sob. I don't know how to put this simply, because the whole thing is very complex, but I will say this: since that prayer, I no longer feel like I'm trying to fight the raging fire of temptation with a squirt gun. I suddenly had, and continue to have, a tsunami of power to fight each flame of temptation. Something systematically changed in my perspective during that prayer. So now my situation came full circle to make this song my anthem during this season of my life.... Tomorrow is 30 days sober for me.

Hallelujah, Suzanne! We are praising Jesus alongside you today! Thank you for sharing your story and may God continue to bless you through music and through His Word.
