"What The Hard Times Taught Me" by Jason Gray

What a song for 2020. From Jason Gray’s latest EP “Reorder” comes this song released just hours ago. This year has been a hard time for many. However Jason reminds us that there’s so much to learn and be thankful for.

I believe that I’m where you want me
I can see from the place you brought me
There’s so much life in what the hard times taught me
Though it didn’t go the way I planned it
I learned how to live open-handed
I came alive in what the hard times taught me

"Image of God" by We Are Messengers

Yet another song that is perfect for us today. With so much hatred in our world, Darren Mulligan and the band We Are Messengers reminds us that each and every one of us is made in God’s image.

“We are not the things we’ve done or the mistakes we’ve made. We are not defined by our political affiliations, our backgrounds or the color of our skin. You and I are brothers and sisters, each one perfectly formed by our creator. You are completely worthy of being loved and of incomparable value because you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God. Let this new WAM song wash over you and remind each of us that every person we meet today is made in the image of God. Let’s do better at recognizing that in each other and let’s go easy, walk slow and love well.”

"Joy to the World" by For King & Country

Friends, Joel and Luke of For King & Country have proven that it’s never too early to think about Christmas. For King & Country’s “Little Drummer Boy” has been a favorite among Life 90.5 listeners in the Christmas season. So much to the delight of countless fans, they’re releasing a Christmas album at the end of October. Just this morning, however, they released their version of “Joy to the World.” And it’s amazing.

Here’s what Joel and Luke say about the album and how Christmas is so tightly weaved into their beginnings as a band:

“It all started on a dreary winter’s night in our American hometown of Nashville, TN. It was the end of 2012, the year the band began. We piled ourselves into an old factory - cellos, brass, bass, guitars and of course a load of drums. We began to frantically rehearse and prepare for an incumbent Christmas tour that we frankly, due to the fact that we’d yet to produce a Christmas album or song, had no right to embark on. Yet, from that shotgun rehearsal (where we naively dreamt up our rendition of “Little Drummer Boy”) to today, the beauty, drama, and ultimately the miracle of Christmas has caught our musical imagination and therefore been laced into the DNA of the band.”
