Happy Friday, friends! On this last Friday in July 2020, we’ve got a great mix for you. A brand new artist of the Contemporary Christian music scene, Matty Mullins. Plus a new radio release from hard rock band Skillet. Then finally, a new song with a country flair from Rhett Walker. Take a listen to all three, then vote for your favorite!
"No Hold on Me" by Matty Mullins
Matty Mullins is a new artist to Life 90.5. He’s been in a metalcore band for more than a decade, but just recently released a Contemporary Christian music single. Matty says of “No Hold on Me”:
“The lyrics in this song are very personal to me. I’ve battled anxiety and depression for half my life, and there are moments when it can feel like the darkness has an unshakable grip. Romans 8:38 through 39 says ‘for I am convinced that neither death nor life neither angels nor demons neither the present nor the future nor any powers neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.’”
We look forward to hearing more from this talented artist!
"Terrify the Dark" by Skillet
From the harder side of the Christian music world comes our next feature. Much to the surprise of Contemporary Christian music fans, Skillet has been producing some “lighter” songs with great appeal, including “Stars” and “Lions.” Though this next song came out nearly a year ago with the release of the album Victorious, “Terrify the Dark” was just recently released to radio.
Where could I run? Where could I hide?
Your breaking in on me
Restoring ruins of my life
From rags to royalty
I can see you, I believe you, I trust you
"Good to Me" by Rhett Walker
In the summer of 2018, Rhett Walker opened at a Building 429 concert at Port City Community Church here in Wilmington. Last year, he released a great song with a country flair, “Believer” to tremendous reaction from Life 90.5 listeners who kept requesting it. And now he releases yet another single to radio, recounting God’s goodness throughout his lifetime.
I will look this storm in the eye
I won’t fear, for You’re on my side
My first hope, my last word
Now and forever
Let it rain, let it pour, I will sing
All You’ve ever been is good to me
