Needtobreathe, Natalie Grant & More | Fresh Music Fridays

Fresh Music Friday

Happy Friday, friends! We already love Fridays because we’re excited for our weekend to begin. But we love it all the more because some of our favorite Christian artists release new songs on Fridays. It’s been Mandy’s joy to bring you some of these brand new songs on Friday mornings after 10am. Now, you can check out her Fresh Music Fridays features here on the blog, too!

"Survival" by Needtobreathe

South Carolina-based crossover band Needtobreathe releases their next album Out of Body on August 28, 2020. This collaboration with Drew & Ellie Holcomb combines their expected country feel with a message that resonates with all of us.

“I am a man in need of a constant revival
Jesus come quickly I need you for my survival”

Until we believers get to Heaven, we need Jesus for our survival and constant revival. Whether we realize it or not, followers of Jesus are engaged in spiritual warfare. And we need to cling to Jesus if we’re going to find daily victory against the enemy that seeks to enslave our hearts.

"Love" by We Are Messengers and Mali Music

The original version of “Love” was released in December of 2019. However, this new remix with Mali Music presents brings some extra fun with a funky rap element. Plus, it reveals the beauty that comes from combining diverse sounds and artists with the common, powerful message of God’s love that won’t let us go. The day this remix released, the band shared this message on Instagram:

“America, unity is possible and it’s beautiful. We just dropped this new remix for our song “Love” feat. our brother @malimusic! I’ve needed to hear these truths today, needed to hear his words and needed to know that Love is greater than hate.”

We Are Messenger’s latest album Power is out now.

"Praise You In This Storm" by Natalie Grant

Does that song sound familiar to you? Well it should! The original song was released in 2005 by the band Casting Crowns. However Natalie and her husband Bernie were co-writers with Casting Crown’s Mark Hall. This slower version has a more worshipful feel, and is just as powerful a performance as the original. Music by the London Symphony adds a beauty to the song that compliments Natalie’s voice so perfectly. Here’s what Natalie had to say about the song on social media Thursday evening before the release:

“In 2005, my husband @bernieherms wrote this song with who I believe it’s one of the great songwriters of our time, @markhallcc . I had no idea that 12 years later it would become an anchor for me as I walked through cancer. I decided to record the song over a year ago and then had no idea we would be releasing it for such a time as this… When the storm is loud, may our praise always be louder.”

Natalie Grant’s next album No Stranger releases on August 28, 2020.
