The Cape Fear Feed the Hunger Packathon returns on March 14! Organizers Scott Cheatham and Scott Hahn join us to invite you to be a part of this special ministry opportunity, feeding stomachs and souls. Feed the Hunger is a faith-based organization that delivers the gospel of Jesus along with the food.
Last year, over 112,000 meals were packed here. More than 5,000 were kept locally while the rest were to sent to places in need after natural disasters. For instance, thousands of meals packed in Wilmington were on the first barge to the Bahamas after the destruction of Hurricane Dorian. However the next packing event in Wilmington is aiming for an even larger goal – 250,000 meals.
On March 14, the shift is 9-11am. Volunteers should arrive at 8am. While having the most fun in a hairnet, anyone of any age can help by doing various parts of the process. For example, kids can scoop food into packages, older participants can help label items, all while strong adults move boxes across the facility. In addition to families serving together, churches can sponsor the event and gather their own teams to pack.
