Shemini Atseret is the 8th day of assembly and it happens the day after the last day of Sukkot. It is like when the King held a banquet for 7 days and said “My friends, I love you so much, please stay another day.” It is a picture of eternity with Messiah after the millennial reign of Jesus (Yeshua). Simcha Torah is distinct but we celebrate it on the same day. It marks the end of one Torah (first 5 books of the Bible) reading cycle and the beginning of another. We receive in the Torah the word of God which was made flesh and dwelled with us.
