Sunday morning host
Dan’s Christian Radio career began as a senior in college, at a time when he and others were praying specifically for the Lord’s will and direction for his life. It was in that period, as Dan was listening to the only Christian radio station on the dial (a 100,000 watt Southern Gospel FM), when, as he puts it “The Lord spoke to me and said ‘You like that station don’t you?’” Dan thought about his response and answered “Yes, Lord, I do… because it’s about You.” It was then that the “still small voice” said “I want you to work there.” And, Dan has been involved in Christian radio ever since!
After 8 months at “Gospel One” WHKY-FM in Hickory, Dan moved onto seminary where he earned, in 1981, a Masters of Divinity Degree, with Biblical Languages, from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in WakeForest, North Carolina. For the next 17 years or so Dan worked in Christian ministry and WPJL-AM in Raleigh, along with Jim Stephens, Matt Wall, Eddie Thomas, and others.
When Jim began praying for and moving toward Christian Radio ministry in Wilmington, Dan volunteered to help Jim establish a work in Greater Southeastern NC. Dan recalls telling Jim, in essence, “The Lord always sent His disciples out two by two. You need some help with this and I’m ready if you’re willing.”
“The Lord has done great things in our midst through the years” Dan recalls. “Even the meeting of our needs for daily bread is a testament to the Lord’s faithfulness. Our goal is to establish and maintain a godly Christian radio presence here, airing only the best, and serving the local body of Christ.”
