For the last several weeks, you’ve been getting to know your favorite Life 90.5 hosts better by learning about their current top 3 favorite songs. Well, now it’s your turn to tell us your top 3 favorites! Periodically, we’ll be selecting from among your submissions to share your faves with our listeners.
The first listener to share her favorites is Becky Graves. You might have heard her on the air before talking about the ministry Haiti Awake. Just like you, she’s an avid listener, making regular song requests. Here’s her current favorites and her explanations on why she loves these songs so much…
1. “The God Who Stays” by Matthew West
“The God who Stays” by Matthew West is a song I listen to every morning. What a beautiful thought – to know that God is always with us! This song helps me remember that people need us to love like Jesus and not walk away when it’s hard. I spend a lot of time with people from whom the world would walk away. They feel cast aside, forgotten. Sometimes I get tired, and I want to walk away, too. Sometimes I wish I could undo some of the hard things I know. But God has called us to love unconditionally. And it’s because He has loved us that we can love others. We are like Jesus when we stay and do not walk away.
2. “Grave” by Cochren & Co.
“Grave” by Cochren and Co. is another song I listen to every morning when I’m out walking. The contrasts in this song remind me of the extreme grace God has shown in my life through the hard times which, in turn, brought the most joy and growth. My favorite part of the song says: “If there hadn’t been a Father who made a way when there was none, I’d still be an orphan if it wasn’t for His son.” We can not fully appreciate the good times in life unless we’ve lived through the hard ones.
3. “Goodness of God” by Bethel Music
“Goodness of God” by Bethel Music is a song I think should be part of every Christian’s morning routine! When we focus our minds on the goodness of God, it changes everything.
“All my life You have been faithful” – how important it is to remember!
“All my life you have been so, so kind” – where would I be without Jesus?
“With every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.” I want that to be my testimony.
