If you’ve been watching the news, your heart breaks like ours for the people of Israel and those impacted by the violence. Over thousands of years, the region has long been one of unrest and war. It may not seem like there’s much you and I can do. While we don’t have the power to end the deadly turmoil, we pray to the God of Israel who has not only the power, but also more love for them than we can imagine. Let’s dig into some Scripture together and discover 5 ways we can pray for Israel today.
PRAY FOR PEACE AND PROTECTION
“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: ‘May those who love you be secure.'” (Psalm 122:6)
As we pray for Israel, let us ask for God’s protection over the nation and its people, that they may find security and peace amidst the dangers they face.
PRAY FOR GOD’S WISDOM AND GUIDANCE
“For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.” (Proverbs 2:6-8)
Let us pray for Israel to be guided by God’s wisdom in navigating difficult situations and making righteous decisions.
PRAY FOR GOD’S HEALING
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)
During difficult and dangerous times, let us pray for healing for those who are physically, emotionally, or spiritually wounded. May God’s healing touch be upon the land and its people.
PRAY FOR DIVINE INTERVENTION
“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Let us pray for God’s divine intervention in protecting and strengthening the nation of Israel during these perilous times, reassuring them of His presence and support.
PRAY THAT THEY WOULD KNOW JESUS
“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)
While prayers for Israel’s peace and safety are valuable and important, the people of Israel and their enemies need something else even more. They need to know Jesus. They need to recognize their need for a Messiah, not to lead them politically, but to redeem them from their own sin and allow them into an even greater nation – the Kingdom of Heaven.
